Explore the maritime heart of the city
Maratea Port, located at the foot of Monte S. Biagio, consists of two large piers and, especially in summer, is frequented by many VIPs, both Italian and non-Italian.
Visitors will be enchanted, as the place is not just a trading post but it is possible to find small houses and alleys that meet before arriving at the port and everything is dominated by the imposing statue of Christ the Redeemer.
In past years the port was a sailors’ village and then a site for trading goods of all kinds, but now it has become a destination for famous people. Having become one of the most famous ports in the Mediterranean, it offers all the services for a port stop and in the evening it comes alive offering tourists numerous bars and restaurants where they can enjoy tasty fish-based dishes.
